June 2026 \u2014 Following the severe earthquakes in Venezuela, the humanitarian situation continues to worsen. According to the latest official figures, more than 920 people have died so far, and approximately 3,360 others have been injured. Search and rescue operations are ongoing; according to media reports, more than 50,000 people are still missing. Experts expect the death toll to continue rising. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Since news of the earthquakes broke, we have been closely monitoring developments on the ground, analyzing the humanitarian situation, and reaching out to potential local partners.<\/p>\n

After intensive deliberations, we have decided to commence providing immediate help together with our local partner organization LasComaesAndantes in Caracas and the Munich-based organization Visiones e. V. <\/a>.The implementation will be supported by the collective Aktion Deutschland Hilft.<\/a> <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

<\/i><\/i><\/span>Support for hospitals<\/span><\/a><\/h4><\/div>

The initial relief efforts are focused on helping hospitals care for the large number of injured people. To this end, urgently needed medical supplies are being provided to strengthen treatment capacities in the hospitals that have been particularly hard hit. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

<\/i><\/i><\/span>Health care system at its limit<\/span><\/a><\/h4><\/div>

The earthquakes have struck a country whose health and social services systems were already under severe strain before the disaster. According to the United Nations, some 7.9 million people in Venezuela were already dependent on humanitarian aid. <\/p>\n

Given the large number of injured people, many hospitals are now reaching their limits. There is a shortage of medical equipment, supplies, and essential medical devices that are urgently needed to treat those affected. <\/p>\n

The supply situation in Venezuela is already so dire in many places that patients have to bring their own medications, medical supplies, and in some cases even food. The earthquakes have further exacerbated this precarious situation. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

In the wake of an earthquake of this magnitude, we are now facing a massive supply crisis in the hospitals. The chances of survival for the people who can still be rescued from the rubble are dwindling by the hour. That is why rapid assistance from outside is now crucial. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>
